CHALLENGE
Arsenal’s existing app homepage provides fans with access to scores, fixtures, and club content, but the experience often feels cluttered and outdated. The challenge was to redesign the homepage to deliver a modern fan experience tailored to Gen Z and Gen Alpha, making it faster, more intuitive, and more visually engaging while staying true to Arsenal’s brand identity.
RESULTS & REFLECTION
The redesigned homepage concept highlights Arsenal’s identity while modernizing the fan experience. The new layout creates an engaging hub for live match content, tickets, and merchandise in one intuitive flow. Reflections on testing showed that fans valued faster access to live updates and the clean, modular interface. If developed further, personalization and community-driven features could enhance long-term engagement.
THE PROCESS
Research & Analysis: Reviewed competitor sports apps (Manchester United, NBA, ESPN) to understand best practices in live sports UX. Analyzed fan expectations around instant updates, personalization, and seamless commerce.
Information Architecture: Structured navigation around quick access to key features: Live Scores → Fixtures → Highlights → Ticketing → Merchandise. Focused on reducing friction so fans could reach core content within one or two taps.
Wireframing & Prototyping: Designed low-fidelity wireframes emphasizing hierarchy of live content, card-based layouts for fixtures and results, and prominent calls-to-action for tickets and merchandise. Created interactive prototypes to visualize user journeys.
Usability Testing: Gathered feedback from football fans on clarity, speed of access, and brand perception. Iterations reduced clutter, prioritized live match data, and improved readability with modular sections.
Visual Design & Style Guide: Applied Arsenal’s signature red, white, and gold palette, bold sans-serif typography, and iconography inspired by the club’s identity. Established a style guide for consistent use of layouts, buttons, and content blocks.
